Peri says, “I love ribs but I wanted to find ribs that I could cook in the oven.  I found a recipe online for the crockpot.  I saw the dry rub I use on a different recipe and thought it would be good on ribs also. I don’t know why I added the applesauce but the ribs turn out moist and tender every time!”

1 slab of spare ribs

Dry rub (Peri uses McCormick Grill Mates Barbecue Seasoning)

1/2 cup of applesauce

Cut slab in half or thirds so it will fit in the crockpot. Sprinkle dry rub on front and back of ribs making sure the meat is covered. Put ribs in crockpot. Spread applesauce over the top and in between if stacked. Cook on high for 5-6 hours until meat falls off the bone.

Take ribs out and lay onto a broiling pan or cookie sheet. Spread a layer of barbecue over the top of ribs. Broil on high until barbecue sauce begins to caramelize or bubble.  Serve!
