John would make this dish whenever there was a potluck work event at AT&T.

6 cups water

1 teaspoon salt

3 ounces uncooked macaroni rings (about 2/3 cup)

1 egg yolk

1 tablespoon snipped chives

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)

1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped broccoli

1/3 teaspoon salt

4 eggs

1 egg white

1 cup creamed cottage cheese (John uses cream cheese.)

1 tablespoon snipped chives

1 teaspoon salt

Paprika

Heat oven to 375º F.  Heat water and 1 teaspoon salt to boiling; stir in macaroni.  Boil until tender, 3 to 8 minutes.  Drain; rinse in cold water.

Beat egg yolk; stir in macaroni and 1 tablespoon chives.  Press mixture against bottom and side of greased 9-inch pie plate with back of spoon.  Bake 10 minutes; remove from oven.  Cool 10 minutes.

Increase oven temperature to 425o.  Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over crust.  Prepare broccoli as directed on package, using ½ teaspoon salt; drain.  Arrange broccoli on cheese.  Beat eggs, egg white, cottage cheese, 1 tablespoon chives and 1 teaspoon salt; pour on broccoli.  Sprinkle with paprika. 

Bake uncovered 15 minutes.  Reduce oven temperature to 300o.  Bake until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean, about 30 minutes.  Cool 10 minutes before serving. 5 servings.
