Edna got this recipe “from New Orleans somewhere” and changed it to suit her taste. It is an appetizer that anyone who likes crab will love.

Here, Brittany makes an appetizer of her own and wears the (in)famous gray and yellow ribbon apron Grandmother received one year as a Christmas gift from a Garden Club member in New Orleans. The apron is so ugly it has found an affectionate place in our hearts – as an annual Christmas gift/award given to the person most deserving for the year – Brittany set up housekeeping an apartment this year and so it was blessed. Who will get it next?

1 lb. cream cheese

½ stick butter

½ lb. crab meat

⅛ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon celery salt

½ cup chopped green onions

1 to 2 loaves French bread, cut into cubes

Melt the cream cheese and butter in a double boiler. Add the crab meat, seasonings, and green onions. Stir until mixture is a smooth consistency.

Keep warm in fondue pot and serve with French bread chunks.

Serves 25.
