Kim describes the sauce for this as tasting similar to the pudding in Pa’s Banana Pudding. Grandmother didn’t add the brandy when Kim, Shalon, and Peri were kids.

3 cups crushed bread

5 eggs

2 cups sugar

2 cups milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

Topping

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 stick butter, softened

1 cup chopped pecans

Sauce

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup melted butter

1 egg

1/4 cup brandy, warm

1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine the ingredients for the bread pudding in a 9 x 13″ pan. Mix together the topping and sprinkle on top of the bread mixture. Bake at 350º F. for 35 minutes.

For the sauce, add all the ingredients to a pot and gently heat until warm. Pour this on top of the baked bread pudding and serve.
