Mom Hitch made these all the time for the kids as a sweet treat to eat. Many years later, Shalon made these at times when she was babysitting for her nieces, Alison and Lisa. Alison renamed them “Cow Patties” and the great grandchildren adopted the name for them. Make them and you will see why.

Now, Victoria and Alexander make them. Alexander prepares to taste test while Victoria demonstrates spooning cookies onto wax paper.

¾ stick butter

3 tablespoons cocoa

2 cups sugar

½ cup milk

¾ cup peanut butter

2 ½ cups oatmeal

1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add cocoa, sugar, milk. Boil 1 ½ minutes. Add peanut butter and stir until dissolved.

Take the mixture off the heat. Fold in the oatmeal. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
