Betty’s Sweet Potatoes have been appearing on the Thanksgiving and Christmas table for many years. She got the recipe from her Mother, Mattie Lou Vester.

8 sweet potatoes

2 sticks butter or margarine

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 tablespoon Jack Daniels Whiskey

½ cup sugar (Betty used 8 packages of Sweet and Low since Ted was diabetic. Tastes great!)

½ teaspoon cinnamon

At least 2 dozen large marshmallows

Scrub and wash the sweet potatoes. Boil them in water until tender. After peeling them, place them in a large mixing bowl. Mash the sweet potatoes and blend in the other ingredients (except the marshmallows.) Pour the mixture into a 9 x 13″ casserole dish. Line the top with the large marshmallows and toast in the oven until golden brown.
