Mom Hitch originated this recipe into our family and a few of her grandchildren adopted it.
Chocolate gravy made by her cousin Nevis was one of Kim’s favorite things to eat in the country. When made right, it is a thin sauce and drizzled on biscuits, it is yummy to chocoholics. When Kim took her new husband, John, to Kentucky the first time, she wanted Nevis to make it to show it off. One morning, Nevis got the sauce going. It cooked while Nevis and Kim worked on breakfast. It wasn’t thickening to their liking and they fretted over it, adding more sugar, more water, more chocolate. Suddenly, it happened. The sauce thickened. Kim and Nevis have had a big laugh to this day about serving John not gravy, but FUDGE on this biscuits that morning!

Mom Hitch originated the chocolate gravy recipe into our family and a few of her grandchildren adopted it – because we love it! Here, she is pictured with Dad in the early 1970’s.
2 well rounded tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 cup sugar
1 ¾ cup water (Nevis prefers the same measure of milk.)
Combine and heat. Drizzle over hot biscuits.
